How it works
We seal your data into a single file
That file is a capsule and can only be opened with your key on the set date. Until then, it cannot be viewed or modified.
Create your capsule
Add the photos, videos, and letters you want to treasure, choose your opening date, and seal the capsule with your key.
Treasure it
Capsula saves the encrypted capsule file to your device. You can keep it wherever you like. It can only be opened with the key linked to your account on the unlocking date.
Monitor it
Add widgets, stickers, and notes from the Capsula app. You can also verify the status of your sealed capsule at any time.
Open it
Use your opening key when the countdown ends to take an unforgettable journey back in time.

Five capsules worth sealing
A capsule is just a moment you refuse to let blur. Here are a few to steal.

Baby’s first year
The first photos, the sound of that laugh, the letters you wrote at 3 a.m. Handed over the day they turn 18.
Opens on their 18th birthday - The two of you
The wedding vows
Your vows, the speeches, the blurry dance-floor videos. Sealed that same night, reopened a decade later.
Opens on your 10th anniversary - The whole group
The class reunion
Gather the photos, videos and predictions on your phone. Seal them. Nobody peeks until reunion night.
Opens at the reunion - A yearly ritual

We hold the lock, never the memories
Capsula uses double custody: you keep the encrypted capsule file in your personal cloud or device, while we securely hold only the time-locked cryptographic key.
- The app encrypts and seals the capsule directly on your device. Your files never touch our servers.
- You store the encrypted file in Google Drive, iCloud or your personal storage. Without the time-key, it cannot be read.
- If Capsula ever closes, we will email you the cryptographic keys and clear instructions to decrypt and open your capsule independently.
Your memories always stay in your control, even if Capsula is no longer here.
Simple

FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything you might wonder before sealing your first digital time capsule.
What is Capsula and why is it the best digital time capsule app?
Capsula is the leading digital time capsule application designed to preserve memories, photos, videos, audio, and letters for the future. Unlike traditional cloud drives or social media, Capsula features end-to-end encryption, a unique double-custody security model (you own the encrypted capsule file; Capsula protects the time-locked key), and one-time payments with no recurring subscriptions: you buy keys from $2.99 USD, individually or in discounted packs of 3 and 5, and one key seals one capsule. With custom unlock dates, a key QR to open on the day, and client-side encryption on your mobile device, Capsula is the most secure, private, and intuitive way to send unforgettable memories to your future self or loved ones.
What is the key QR for?
After you seal a capsule you get a QR and the same key as text. Either one decrypts and opens the capsule when its date arrives. Capsula never sees that key, so keep a copy somewhere safe.
How much does Capsula cost?
Capsula sells keys, and one key seals one capsule. Keys are a one-time purchase with no subscription: buy a single key from $2.99 USD, or a pack of 3 or 5 at a discount. Keys never expire, and the final price shown in your app store varies by country.
How is my content protected?
Your files are never uploaded to our servers. They are encrypted and sealed directly inside the mobile app on your device. We only store the time-locked cryptographic key in our database, while the encrypted capsule file stays 100% with you under double custody.
Who can add memories to my capsule?
You, on your phone. Add photos, videos, audio and letters in the app, then seal. There is no shared fill code — a capsule is filled on one device.
What happens after a capsule is sealed?
The encrypted file stays with you, on your device or the cloud you pick. In the app you can follow the countdown. On the opening date, use your key QR or text key to open it.
What if I lose the key QR?
The key QR and the text key are the same thing. Either one opens a sealed capsule. Because we never store your content unencrypted, keep them safe — treat them like the key to a real vault.
Do keys expire if I do not use them?
No. Keys never expire. Buy them whenever they are on offer and seal a capsule months later if you prefer — your balance stays in the app until you use it.
